Three Things you Must Know about GUNPLA

    The word “Gunpla” is a combination of the phrase: Gundam plastic model. In other words, Gunpla kits are buildable and moveable plastic models inspired by the animated series, Gundam, that debuted in Japan in 1979.

    Do you think the Gundam plastic model is just a toy? Not actually. The three points below will turn your view of Gundam models upside down!

    Building Gunpla is not just a matter of taking the parts apart and simply assembling them. Although I only have a few years of experience as a “glue guy” (as Chinese insiders call it), I have enough knowledge to teach you to get started. Proper handling of the gate is very important when you are just starting out. The gate is the extra small piece left over when the model part is removed from the kit. If you participate in a primary competition, judges take this item very seriously. We have to use scissors, knives, sandpaper and water to sand slowly.

    There are nearly unlimited Gunpla options. Just from the scale size, there are many kinds of the same Gundam.

    Gunpla varies widely in colour, size, and accessories. While some come with a shield and wings, others come equipped with guns and missile launchers. Its diversity is what makes it great for model building with your own imagination!

    As mentioned in the first point about primary competition, there are formal competitions for Gunpla! Usually, they are divided into two parts: model-making competitions and painting competitions. I have participated in many model-making competitions because they are very suitable for newcomers. Under the patient guidance of my uncle, I have won many awards, such as the fourth place in The Union Cup GUNPLA Competition 2020, and the first place in the model-making group of Two Cities Gunpla Exchange Tournament 2022.

    I believe that you now have a certain understanding of professional Gunpla assembly. Building Gunpla is a relaxing thing. There is nothing more relaxing than opening a Gunpla kit and trying to put all the pieces together. Nothing beats the satisfaction of completing a Gunpla!

The 15 Years of my Encounter with Badminton

After the third badminton tournament at Wenzhou-Kean University, we briefly took a group photo, Saturday, October. 14, 2023.
